Green Efforts: French Rabbit is the one vineyard who has put together all the pieces of the green puzzle. Not only does it have some of the greenest packaging in the industry (the TetraPak), but it also practices biodynamic farming techniques. The TetraPak is environmentally preferable because it not only has a much smaller production burden than a glass bottle, but it also is collapsible and lighter, making for a much smaller transportation burden. We also commend French Rabbit for its biodynamic farming practices which avoid the usage of hazardous chemicals during growth and also treat the landscape like an ecosystem as opposed to a farm. French Rabbit also sports decent environmental reporting, although it could be better. Green Issues: The only area we would like to see an improvement is its building design. We were unable to find any information regarding any building efficiencies or renewable energy usage. Greenopia Verdict: French Rabbit takes away Greenopia top honors with 4 leafs for its innovative packaging coupled with environmentally responsible growing practices. |
