|Brand Ratings -> Candy Maker -> Cadbury|
Greenopia Environment Achievement:
Cadbury has great environmental reporting and has clear goals. In fact, their reporting was some of the best we came across in this study. Cadbury has the goal of sourcing 50% sustainable chocolate by 2010 and it presently has a fair trade line of products. Cadbury has greened the packing of some of its products, most notably in Trident Gum and in Cadbury Eggs. Cadbury is striving to reduce its climate impact by 50% by 2020 and has shown steady decreases in most of its environmental indicators per unit of production. Cadbury uses some renewable energy.
Although Cadbury has done some impressive things especially considering its size, there are still a few things it could do better. First off, we would like to see some organic products offered alongside with the fair trade ones. Fair trade is great, but organic has additional environmental benefits. We would also like to see more renewable energy usage.
If you are looking for a green major candy company, Cadbury is the one for you.
