Join artists, activists and gardeners in planting a public edible community garden in Civic Center Plaza.

Garden Design:
The Civic Center Victory Garden will be a living quilt of plants and people, a garden of communities. Featuring a wide variety of heritage organic vegetables suited to the Bay Area microclimate, the garden will demonstrate the diversity of urban food production practices. Food grown in the garden will be donated to those with limited access to healthy organic produce through a partnership with local food banks and meals programs.

Project Goals
• Create the most beautiful, well-maintained, edible garden in San Francisco
• Demonstrate the potential of a truly local agriculture practice
• Bring together and promote Bay Area urban gardening organizations
• Produce high quality food for those in need
• Celebrate the Slow Food Nation event from August 29 – September 1

The Big ONE Convergence is organized by Bay Area residents from diverse social and ethnic backgrounds. The summer’s biggest community celebration will showcase the many wonderful ways Marin is leading the way in sustainable and environmental efforts by creating “The Greenest County Fair on Earth.”

The 2008 Marin County Fair will host the most comprehensive, technologically advanced exposition of alternative fuel and high MPG vehicles ever held in Marin County. Over 20 alternative fuel and high MPG vehicles will be showcased at the event. Vehicles and fuel types may include hybrid, electric, hydrogen, compressed natural gas, plug-in hybrid, high MPG gasoline, ethanol and biodiesel. Other eco-friendly vehicles on display will include electric bicycles, mopeds, and two and three-wheeled scooters. The new Alt-Fuel Car Expo, specifically designed for the public, will take place during the Marin County Fair that will showcase green practices and businesses throughout the fairgrounds.

Public transit will also play a major role at Alt-Fuel Car Expo, with the latest in bus and light rail technologies. Schools, businesses and individuals will also be invited to submit transportation-themed projects for display and recognition.

The 63rd edition of the Marin County Fair will celebrate Marin County's dedication to responsible use of resources and protection of our environment. We are excited to showcase new and innovative designs, ideas, products and services that promote a sustainable future.
