About BradCharlesMelzer:
BradCharlesMelzer's interests, passions, hobbies and favorite activities, etc.

I am a professional ecologist and educator currently serving as the Director of Agriculture & Urban Programs for Filtrexx International: a carbon negative company. I teach for Baldwin-Wallace College and helped them to develop Ohio's first Sustainability degree program. I also sit on the Board of Directors for the Green Triangle; Northeast Ohio's most active Permaculture group. Filtrexx International (& the Filtrexx Foundation) has developed a series of compost-based technologies that control erosion, remediate soil, stabilize slopes & stream banks, and grow organic foods. In 2009 alone we used 2 million cubic yards of compost (diverting over 4 million cubic yards of solid waste from landfills) and planted 7,500 acres of permanently vegetated land. In 2010 we distributed 300 gardens in one day to families in need. In 2011 we plan to distribute 1,000 gardens in one day. Also in 2011 we are beginning a city-scale remediation project, the Remediate Cleveland challenge, to cover 100% of Cleveland's vacant properties with gardens and greenspace. We have also developed a curriculum A Garden for Every Child: Reconnecting Children with Nature, in partnership with the National Gardening Assn and the US Composting Council. Give us a shout sometime!
