About seaotter22:
seaotter22's interests, passions, hobbies and favorite activities, etc.

I teach 4th & 5th grade students about the importance of the 4Rs reduce, reuse, recycle and rot. I work at a transfer station and give tours of the facility while talking about the impacts of making garbage. I also give a classroom program about called Oil to Plastic which talks about how plastic is made and how it affects us. In my spare time I can be found on the beach, taking pictures, exploring, researching the green life, hanging with friends and scrapbooking.

Journey Into Green:
How did seaotter22 come to be involved in Earth-conscious living?
My parents were a huge influence. My mom gave money to many animal organizations and it was reading their publications that made me decide to go vegetarian. I did some animal rights work and that evolved into environmental work and awareness. I got a BA in Environmental Studies and participated in an electronic waste campaign in college where we got the entire UC system to agree to buying the greenest electronics and recycling them with companies that don't export the waste to developing countries. This awareness and involvement with communities outside the United States made me examine my own waste habits and ways that I can have a positive ecological impact in my own life.
