One of the easiest and longest-lasting ways to make a style statement is with glasses that hightlight your best features and downplay the ones you aren't as into. Even if you regularly wear contacts, glasses can be a great way to change up your look, and give your eyes a break from the lenses.
Ann Sacks has created a line of eyewear that's totally au courant, and, oh yeah! Is very ecofriendly too, made from easily renewable bamboo (which is quite lightweight too, so the frames have a great 'woody' feel while at the same time being not too heavy on the bridge of your nose.)
The Amy Sacks (named for Ann's daughter, Amy) line of glasses is suitable for both men and women and def has the modern/retro thing going on. If you haven't heard of eco-glasses frames before, it's probably because it's not been done previously (though there are a few sunglasses makers out there.) A quick interview with Ann Sacks shows us how she came up with this new take on an perennial classic.
Greenopia: Why did you choose to work with bamboo, and not recycled plastic or metal?
Ann Sacks: Wood in general was chosen because I wanted to create eyewear that was earthy and also unique. Bamboo specifically was chosen because a) it is sustainable and b) it takes color beautifully which opened up the possibility of a collection that could be earthy but also rich in saturated color.
G: Usually we see bamboo as flooring or wainscoting, and certainly being made into cloth; was it tough to work with bamboo in this context?| Comments(0) | Write a Comment | ||
