Best Eco Jewelry for Fall
by Katherine Butler Submit a Blog Blog Archives

Every eco-fashionista knows that fall brings out some of the coolest designs this side of sustainable. But who is to know what’s organic, green, fair trade, and/or sustainable? And more importantly, what is cool? And so, we’ve combed through the new releases and picked out our favorite pieces in the green this autumnal season.

The Berry Coil Bracelet by Luciana Jewelry

This bracelet is made from fair trade Columbian red choclo seeds and fair trade Balinese silver accent beads, all strung on an interior coil made of recycled Columbian pesos. Not to mention, it’s red. You can’t go wrong with red.

This funky cameo is made from old records, accented by a cool plaid cuff. WrecordsByMonkey is a Brooklyn-based design company that creates handmade accessories, specifically with a low carbon footprint.

Growing Jewelry by Hafsteinn Juliusson
Talk about designing your own jewelry. The owner of this piece must water and nurture this ring, just like any other plantHafsteinn Juliusson is a product designer out of Reykjavik, Iceland, who wanted to be involved with society, ecology and to avoid mainstream mass production. And we say, mission accomplished.

Ansel Award Brooch by Feral Childe
This arty brooch from ribbon scraps comes from Feral Childe, a Brooklyn-based company that focuses on using exclusively locally-sourced materials. So especially for all you New Yorkers out there, you can zero out your carbon footprint with style.

The Single Stockholm Earring
This earring (singular!) is for the chicest green girl who can actually pull off wearing only one earring. In “stunning blue,” it is handcrafted from recycled plastic. It also has nickel-free wire findings.

Gold Multi-Chained Bracelet
This elegant, gold bracelet is made with chains and clasps recycled from vintage jewelry. What’s really interesting about this piece are the different hues of gold, intertwined within the bracelet. Elegant, and eco – who can ask for more?

Carrel Necklace by Dirty Librarian Chain
This mixed chain-fringed necklace is made from 20 vintage chains.  Dirty Librarian Chains is a line out of Brooklyn, New York. They are inspired to be edgy and understated, with a slightly askew elegance. And they are green!

Recycled Typewriter Key Ring by Rachel Hannah
This ring is made with genuine, vintage typewriter keys set in 100% sterling silver fittings. And you can choose your own letter (though the popular letters are backordered). They are adjustable, so one size fits all!

Spring Eco Fashion Trend Report: The Little White Dress
Most of us will be very happy with the trends for Spring this year, as within the new looks are a plethora of shapes and colors that women already love. New takes on classic silhouettes, some very feminine hues and patterns, and a scale back on the crazy shoes of the last year make getting dressed up- or down- a joy. Watch this space as we cover a major Spring trend each week for the next four. First up, the Little White Dress is a trend for Spring and Summer that everyone can embrace. Whether you're curvy or hipless, whether you prefer modern shapes or superfeminine lace, you should have no trouble finding a LWD that looks great on your body. The best part about this trend is that it's a keeper; just because the LWD is "in" this year doesn't mean that it will ever be "out" in the summers upcoming. Being trendy just means that you should be able to find plenty of choices and find one that works best for you. Accessorizing the LWD is almost as easy as they are to wear. Look for gold-tone sandals and jewelry, which always pair well with white. For a more graphic look, try a black and white chunky bracelet, or a striped bag. Or layer white-on-white with accents that add interest with texture and pattern, but keep the blanc look.

Beautiful Ecofriendly Lamps to Brighten Your Home
I know I'm not the only one to rearrange my home seasonally; not only does it make it easier to Spring clean since you're moving your furniture around, but it brings a sense of newness and change to your living spaces that is a visual refresher. While my home is comfortably set up, recently I realized that a bit more light would make the evenings more cheery, and went in search of an easy-on-the-Earth but still design-savvy lamp. Here's what I found.
