Best Eco Jewelry for Fall

Every eco-fashionista knows that fall brings out some of the coolest designs this side of sustainable. But who is to know what’s organic, green, fair trade, and/or sustainable? And more importantly, what is cool? And so, we’ve combed through the new releases and picked out our favorite pieces in the green this autumnal season.
The Berry Coil Bracelet by Luciana Jewelry
This bracelet is made from fair trade Columbian red choclo seeds and fair trade Balinese silver accent beads, all strung on an interior coil made of recycled Columbian pesos. Not to mention, it’s red. You can’t go wrong with red.
Lumber Jack Cameo and Bracelet Set by Wrecord by Monkey
This funky cameo is made from old records, accented by a cool plaid cuff. WrecordsByMonkey is a Brooklyn-based design company that creates handmade accessories, specifically with a low carbon footprint.
Growing Jewelry by Hafsteinn Juliusson
Talk about designing your own jewelry. The owner of this piece must water and nurture this ring, just like any other plant. Hafsteinn Juliusson is a product designer out of Reykjavik, Iceland, who wanted to be involved with society, ecology and to avoid mainstream mass production. And we say, mission accomplished.
Ansel Award Brooch by Feral Childe
This arty brooch from ribbon scraps comes from Feral Childe, a Brooklyn-based company that focuses on using exclusively locally-sourced materials. So especially for all you New Yorkers out there, you can zero out your carbon footprint with style.
The Single Stockholm Earring
This earring (singular!) is for the chicest green girl who can actually pull off wearing only one earring. In “stunning blue,” it is handcrafted from recycled plastic. It also has nickel-free wire findings.
Gold Multi-Chained Bracelet
This elegant, gold bracelet is made with chains and clasps recycled from vintage jewelry. What’s really interesting about this piece are the different hues of gold, intertwined within the bracelet. Elegant, and eco – who can ask for more?

This mixed chain-fringed necklace is made from 20 vintage chains. Dirty Librarian Chains is a line out of Brooklyn, New York. They are inspired to be edgy and understated, with a slightly askew elegance. And they are green!

This ring is made with genuine, vintage typewriter keys set in 100% sterling silver fittings. And you can choose your own letter (though the popular letters are backordered). They are adjustable, so one size fits all!

Coolest Eco Tote Bags for Summer
In the Eco-Tote Explosion of 2010 (ranked right up there with the Cupcake Revolution of 2009), every celeb who could shake a shoulder was sporting a green bag. Naturally, celebrities and their favorite designers were quick to jump on this trend. But since mere mortals can't or won't pay $495 for a Stella McCartney organic cotton shopper, (I paid a buck for mine from Trader Joe's,) other options were necessarily researched. And luckily, a charity has answered our call for affordable, fashionable, celebrity-endorsed green tote bags. (Isn't this what we all pray for at night?)

Best Eco Fashion Boutiques for Online Shopping
One of my favorite things to do while travelling around the world is to seek out the local eco boutique or sustainable store, as is inevitably includes a new designer I'm not yet familiar with and great local knowledge and resources.
Whether you live near one of these brick-n-mortar shops or live in the middle of nowhere (lucky you!), thanks to the internets, you too can dress in ethical style, even if the only one watching is you. Several of these stores are online-only, while some have 'real life' locations, but it hardly matters if you're a savvy (and responsible) Web Citizen.
