Honor Roll:
The University of California – Santa Barbara (UCSB) was another one of our top performers. UCSB has great reporting and its ACUPCC climate numbers were very impressive. UCSB has 6 LEED buildings with another 20 or so on the way. UCSB also mandates that all new construction must be at least LEED Silver. UCSB has a staggeringly good recycling rate of 62% and is aiming to be zero waste by 2020. UCSB composts pre-consumer food waste as well. UCSB utilizes some solar energy and has several local and organic food options as well. The campus accommodates 89 alternative fuel vehicles and UCSB has some of the better water conservation measures we came across in our study.

Held After Class:
We would like to see a little bit more green food options and some additional green power. Given the climate of the area, UCSB has a huge advantage over many other schools.

Green Grade:
UCSB, with a small carbon footprint and great policies, easily cracks the top couple on our list.
