Somehow, music and the holidays go together. But once you've heard all the Christmas songs a few times, you're ready to hear something new, or perhaps you need a bit of an escape from the craziness of the season. Either way, check out One Night Music , which showcases up and coming artists, in a personal way. Each performer sings a song or songs and there are informative, interesting write-ups about each one so you can scan for what you're into.
Several artists on the One Night Music site are environmentally-oriented. Both Ash-El and Treesus sing about humans and their relationship to the Earth, both in totally different and individual ways. Check them out below, and go to the One Night Music site to hear more.
Ash El's work "aims to cultivate the links between both local and global movements for social justice, spiritual awakening and ecological healing through "edutainment" and other compelling ways to captivate youth and hard to reach populations." Ash-El works with several Bay Area environmental groups as an educator and activist.
Treesus is an organic farmer and folk singer. "Lyrically, as in life, Jacob's relationship to the land on which he lives drives the unique tone of his music. He explores strange guitar progressions and a style born in the greater Sacramento music scene - an area diverse in folk and rock experiments."
