Nik Bertulis will introduce the Regenerative Design Class, working with biology to purify air, food, water and ourselves.     Victory Garden “Community Planting Day” – Slow Food Nation

Join artists, activists and gardeners in planting a public edible community garden in Civic Center Plaza.

Garden Design:
The Civic Center Victory Garden will be a living quilt of plants and people, a garden of communities. Featuring a wide variety of heritage organic vegetables suited to the Bay Area microclimate, the garden will demonstrate the diversity of urban food production practices. Food grown in the garden will be donated to those with limited access to healthy organic produce through a partnership with local food banks and meals programs.

Project Goals
• Create the most beautiful, well-maintained, edible garden in San Francisco
• Demonstrate the potential of a truly local agriculture practice
• Bring together and promote Bay Area urban gardening organizations
• Produce high quality food for those in need

The summer’s biggest community celebration will showcase the many wonderful ways Marin is leading the way in sustainable and environmental efforts by creating “The Greenest County Fair on Earth.”

The 2008 Marin County Fair will host the most comprehensive, technologically advanced exposition of alternative fuel and high MPG vehicles ever held in Marin County. Over 20 alternative fuel and high MPG vehicles will be showcased at the event. Vehicles and fuel types may include hybrid, electric, hydrogen, compressed natural gas, plug-in hybrid, high MPG gasoline, ethanol and biodiesel. Other eco-friendly vehicles on display will include electric bicycles, mopeds, and two and three-wheeled scooters. The new Alt-Fuel Car Expo, specifically designed for the public, will take place during the Marin County Fair that will showcase green practices and businesses throughout the fairgrounds.

Public transit will also play a major role at Alt-Fuel Car Expo, with the latest in bus and light rail technologies. Schools, businesses and individuals will also be invited to submit transportation-themed projects for display and recognition.

The 63rd edition of the Marin County Fair will celebrate Marin County's dedication to responsible use of resources and protection of our environment. We are excited to showcase new and innovative designs, ideas, products and services that promote a sustainable future.

    Volunteer Kayakers Needed for Giants Games with Save The Bay

Celebrate summer on the Bay with America's favorite pastime! Help Save The Bay - in partnership with DHL and the San Francisco Giants - to raise awareness about pollution threats to San Francisco Bay. Volunteers will kayak into AT&T Park's McCovey Cove to await the famous "splash hits." DHL will donate $1,000 to Save The Bay for every "splash hit" that sails into the cove, with a minimum donation of $10,000 at the end of the season. Join Save The Bay for this fun Ballpark paddle and let's play ball!

Minimum age is 16. All boating equipment and instruction is provided. Each event is led by Save The Bay staff trained in CPR and Wilderness First Aid and all sites have been scouted for a safe journey.

Volunteers are required to meet one hour before game start time and will paddle as a group to McCovey Cove. We will kayak in the Cove for at least two hours after the game starts. Total time is approximately a 4 hour commitment.

Renewable energy is clean and abundant, but the challenge is to innovate new ways to reach cost parity with gas and coal-fired power-what Google refers to as its "RE<C Initiative." What breakthrough disruptive technologies are there in the renewable space?

Hear perspectives from PG&E, Google, clean tech VCs and policy experts to find out where they are investing, partnering, buying, and growing. Our "Renewable Technologies of the Future" panel will also include leading entrepreneurs using solar thermal plants, efficient wind turbines, wave energy, and renewably produced biofuels. There will be a showcase of Renewable Energy Alumni and current contestants, and as always, plenty of networking opportunities.
