The team at www.moreeco.com found some Carbon Neutral Water in one of our local shops. Does this count. http://ecopicoftheday.com/2009/04/23/carbon-neutral-bottled-water/

Re: Ali These were things we considered with Honest Tea. Unfortunately, almost no one sources ingredients locally and the few that do tend to use the inferior containers to Honest Tea or source the containers from a great distance. Our 4 leaf rating for Honest Tea is not to say it is perfect, but to show that it is head and shoulders above the rest. In Honest Tea's case being linked to Coke has environmental pluses because it gets to be a part of an efficient distribution network (with some hybrid vehicles) and access to technology that other, smaller companies do not have (for bottle cleaning and manufacturing). Thus the concerns you raise are certainly true for Honest Tea, but we were unable to find a company who performed better than them when we considered all areas of the products' life cycle. Thanks for the feedback.

How about changing the picture on your newsletter? My first reaccion was 'shock' when I saw the picture of all the nastiest soft drinks and read the tittle 'America's Top 6 Green Soft Drinks'...Not good.

Interesting idea. Somewhat questionable given that Honest Tea's distribution chain is now merged with Coke's and that they source their teas in India, but I guess that's taken into account?

Thanks Bennett, I agree- filtering water at the tap (if need be) is the way to go, rather than transporting liquids half-way around the world or the country, as this is simply a waste of nonrenewable fossil fuels. Let's go back to the soda-fountain days- I think that would also be a good compromise when you need drinks on the go!

Great that they you created parameters for this industries "green level", however you seem to exclude the fundamental problem with the beverage industry - the transportation-supply chain of liquid products and their packaging in general This is especially noteworthy with bottled water, which I believe everyone should forgo in favor of filtration systems at the tap. (sorry Calistoga and Pierre, but the world would be better without your firms)
