All listings are independently researched, rated, and ranked using unique sets of life cycle based and category-specific criteria, ensuring that each business and product meets precise qualifications. We never accept payment for listings.
The Greenopia Leaf Award allows consumers to easily assess the overall greenness of a business or product. Four-Leaf Rated listings meet our most stringent criteria while One-Leaf Rated listings meet our minimum qualifying standards. The Greenopia Scorecard allows consumers to easily see the specific areas of greenness in the product’s or brand’s life cycle.

Green Efforts: Corona is one of the best selling imported beers in the US and has some environmental clout to boot. Corona had some of the best environmental reporting we came across in the beer industry. Corona has done a good job decreasing its impact per unit of production over time and has shown steady improvement in most environmental indicators. Corona has made some effort to green its packaging and utilizes a biogas recapture system in its building to reduce its energy and emissions impacts. Green Issues: Corona does not have organic beers to speak of and we were unable to find any data pertaining to any transportation efficiencies that the company does. Also, although it does have some packaging efficiencies, Corona still has yet to address the impacts associated with its bottles. There are many preferable alternatives to glass and we would love to see some innovation in this regard. Greenopia Verdict: A solid showing from Corona makes it one of the greener major brands out there. Hopefully they will stay the course and continue to decrease their impact.
