Everyone has seen a Prius, which has recently sold its one millionth unit. But Toyota has more hybrids than just the Prius, there are also the Camry Hybrid and Highlander Hybrid. But there is more to the Toyota’s greenness than just its hybrids. Toyota has an impressive 25.10 fleet average miles per gallon which is especially impressive given how many large vehicles Toyota offers. Toyota also has 6 vehicles that get at least 30 miles per gallon on the highway. Not one to stay idle in the green marketplace, Toyota also has 3 new hybrids on the horizon. Toyota puts forth some of the best life cycle analyses of the automotive industry. Going through them, you can see care is taken to be as accurate as possible. When Toyota looks at its automotive life cycle, it expands its boundaries to capture as accurate a result as possible. Toyota has taken great steps to improve the environmental impact of its packaging and designs its vehicles with its End of Life management being greatly considered. This complements an informative and thorough analysis of standard environmental indicators such as emissions, resource usage, waste, and chemicals. Toyota also designs its vehicles to have as efficient a use phase as possible (high mpg, low emissions) and in the process of making its plants as low carbon as possible. |
