All listings are independently researched, rated, and ranked using unique sets of life cycle based and category-specific criteria, ensuring that each business and product meets precise qualifications. We never accept payment for listings.
The Greenopia Leaf Award allows consumers to easily assess the overall greenness of a business or product. Four-Leaf Rated listings meet our most stringent criteria while One-Leaf Rated listings meet our minimum qualifying standards. The Greenopia Scorecard allows consumers to easily see the specific areas of greenness in the product’s or brand’s life cycle.

Efforts: The average age of craft in US Airway’s fleet is about 12 years old which places it in the middle of pack. US Airways also has installed winglets on some of its crafts. These allow for better fuel efficiency and reduce vehicle emissions. Issues: US Airways is the only company who does not publish any form of environmental reporting. However, its shareholders just passed a measure to incorporate a sustainability report for the future, so hopefully one will come out soon. US Airways does not have any LEED certified buildings or terminals and has not made any plans to utilize biofuels. Since there is no environmental reporting available, there is no recycling data and we could not find any evidence as to whether US Airways offers recycling on its planes. US Airways does not offer any sort of organic, fair trade, or natural food items and it also does not give passengers the ability to offset their carbon footprint (from traveling) when they purchase their ticket. Greenopia Verdict: The sky is the limit for US Airways. Hopefully the creation of a sustainability report will be its first step into the green marketplace. |
