If you have a business or are part of a nonprofit organization that you'd like us to consider, we want to hear from you! Greenopia strives to be the most comprehensive, trusted local resource for where and how to eat, shop and live green every day. So we are constantly looking for new green business leads to include in our printed and online guides.
Every category in our directory carries specific product-based and business practices-based environmental criteria, and every business must meet the minimum qualifying level in its category to be listed with Greenopia. We have two levels of green business listings,
Greenopia Distinguished Business (in print and online) and
Greenopia Recommended Business (online only), both of which must meet our minimum criteria.
Before completing an application, please take a moment to read more below about these two listing levels.
How to Apply for or Update a Listing
To apply for a free* listing or to make corrections to your current listing, please fill out and submit the Preliminary Listing Application form below. Note that submitting an application is the first step of the process and does not guarantee a listing with Greenopia. We do consider every submission and are devoted to including resources that meet our criteria. Because we carefully consider each potential listing, the evaluation process runs approximately six to eight weeks, and if we are in pre-publication research for a printed guide, the process may run more than twelve weeks (so we appreciate your patience!).
A Greenopia representative may contact you for further information. If you have already been contacted by a Greenopia representative and filled out an application, you do not need to complete this application again.
Thanks again for your interest. Please be sure to tell your customers, friends and business associates about Greenopia!
Types of Greenopia Listings
Our first listing level is a
Greenopia Recommended Business which undergoes a preliminary screening process focusing primarily on the products it uses or sells—consumers can trust that it as a business that Greenopia recommends. This is an online-only listing.
A
Greenopia Distinguished Business undergoes a much more stringent evaluation process to be awarded Greenopia's "seal of assurance" and to receive a Green-Leaf Rating for certain business categories. A Greenopia Distinguished Business is evaluated on both its products and business practices through a combined process of Internet research, phone interviews, a site visit by a trained Greenopia researcher whenever possible, and is then further vetted by Greenopia's research management team and, in many categories, our own panel of local experts. This listing is included in both our printed guides, where available, and online at Greenopia.com.
Once Greenopia undertakes field research for a city to fully evaluate and vet the businesses, a Greenopia Recommended Business may then become a Greenopia Distinguished Business. The Greenopia Distinguished Business status and rating is currently only awarded within cities where we have a published printed guide. More cities will be added in 2009-2010.
