You can’t walk down the street these days without dodging someone who is bent over a mobile device.  In fact, it’s a miracle more of us don’t end up plastered on the sidewalk the way we text and walk (and in the case of my city, DRIVE).  But now you can walk and text AND save the environment!  Do something good for the planet and yourself, with earth-friendly and sustainable purchases.  Download the Greenopia iPhone application!

And just how does the Greenopia iPhone app work?  Working with the Geodelic network, it enables you to launch the app and automatically discover green-rated locations (and non-rated as well) in the greater Los Angeles area, with reviews, information, and helpful links.  Just think of it – you will never have to wonder again if that four-leaf rated vegan restaurant is in Silver Lake, or in fact Westwood?  Or is it Studio City?  And not to worry, non-Angelenos.  Soon it’s going to be available for the whole country.

And it doesn’t stop there.  Here are some more great apps to keep things healthy:

1. Miss your yoga class and want to get a stretch or two in?  There’s an application for it!  The Yoga Stretch application will let an instructor talk you through each pose of a yoga session with Vinyasa flow.

2. Pilates instructor Kristin McGee will help you “tap your way through more than 60 images and 3 progressive levels to create the workout you’re looking for.”  How do you get this?  Download the iPump Pilates application.   There’s even iPump Abs & Core and and iPump Stretch.

3. The Nike Training Club application will help you customize your workouts, learn new training drills, and even invite your friends for a little healthy competition.  You get to focus on the five cores of athleticism, like core, cardio, strength, balance, and flexibility.  And you get to download a cool, cute little avatar to keep you company through your workout.

4. The Distance Meter Pro application is super cool for hikers.  Take it on your next hike and use the terrain/topography maps to see how long the trail is and how hard it is.  You can record, import, and export tracks directly to your iPhone.  And never have to Google a hike, drag your boyfriend out to Malibu, and then realize you're one the wrong hike ever again!

5. Walking around Whole Foods and don’t know what to make?  The Whole Foods Market Recipes application provides ingredients, directions, a store locator, and other features. You’ll never have to make multiple trips to the store again, or get stumped about what to make for a healthy dinner.
